Dr. Tubbs’ groundbreaking research has led to numerous novel discoveries in human anatomy, including new ligaments, nerve branches, and dural venous sinuses. A trans-sellar blood supply to the pituitary gland, cutaneous branches from the inferior gluteal nerve, the buccomandibular space, new attachments of the buccinator muscle, and nociceptive fibers in anterior sacroiliac joint nerves have been discovered.

Professor Ivan Varga was born in 1981 in the Slovak Republic (formerly Czechoslovakia). He holds two PhD degrees, in Anthropology and Pathological Anatomy, both from Comenius University in Bratislava. In 2018, he attained the rank of Full Professor in Anatomy, Histology, and Embryology at Charles University in Prague.

Academic Positions

He currently serves as Vice-Dean for Science, Research and PhD Studies at the Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University in Bratislava, and as Head of the Institute of Histology and Embryology at the same institution—the largest and oldest institute of its kind in the Slovak Republic (founded in 1921).

Professor Varga teaches Histology and Embryology, as well as Reproductive Medicine and Clinical Embryology, to students of General Medicine and Dentistry. Between 2010 and 2013, he worked as a Clinical Embryologist at the University Center for Reproductive Medicine.

Jason M. Organ, PhD, FAAA, is a Professor of Anatomy, Cell Biology & Physiology at the Indiana University School of Medicine and Editor-in-Chief of Anatomical Sciences Education. He earned his BA and MA in Anthropology from the University of Missouri and his PhD in Functional Anatomy & Evolution from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Dragomir Dardanov is a surgeon with professional interests in abdominal and general surgery, surgical oncology, coloproctology, and clinical anatomy.

Education and Qualifications

He graduated in Medicine in 2002 from the Medical University of Pleven, Bulgaria. He obtained his specialization in Surgery in 2008, the same year he defended his PhD thesis on the surgical treatment of rectal cancer.

In 2015, he completed a second specialization in Anatomy, Histology, and Cytology. He holds European Board certifications in Surgical Oncology (2012) and Coloproctology (2015), as well as a certificate in abdominal ultrasonography (2013). Since 2021, he has been a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

Dr. Dardanov has trained and worked in leading medical institutions in Bulgaria and internationally, including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (New York), The Methodist Hospital (Houston), St. Mark’s Hospital (London), St. Vincent’s Hospital (Dublin), Danube Hospital (Vienna), and Tokyo Medical and Dental University.
